General Description
As the Program Manager, you would be working 32 hours a week based out of our Central
Office in Surrey. It is possible to work remotely a few days a week and to increase the hours if
the program requires it. Traveling to Rwanda 1-2 times a year, is a highlight of this role.
The Program Manager is responsible for the vision, strategic planning and operation of all
aspects of the Elevation Project. This includes the organization and communication around our
partnership with YFC Rwanda, the oversight of our Sponsorship Program and the facilitation of
the Elevation Experience. The Elevation Experience is a 10- month long Youth Leadership
Development Program, which includes a 6 months curriculum, a learning trip to Rwanda and 3
months of post-trip commitments.
Other responsibilities include program management, financial stewardship, partner development
and participation in networking events with like-minded organizations. The Program Manager
works with closely with staff from other programs within Youth Unlimited as well as creating
connections with youth and churches outside of the organization.
What must the candidate possess to thrive in the position?
● A post-secondary degree (or equivalent experience) related to international development
● Ministry experience and/or some theological training
● Good communication skills, particularly in writing and in partner/donor presentations
● Leadership qualities, including encouraging, facilitative, enthusiastic and an initiator
● A creative mind for Project Design, Social Media and Marketing
● Microsoft Office experience — specifically Word, Excel, and PowerPoint or similar apps
● Familiarity with Canva or Adobe Creative Suite - specifically InDesign and Photoshop
● Good planning, organizing and prioritizing skills and can coordinate shifting workloads
and activities
● Excellent interpersonal skills, initiative, sound judgment, integrity, reliability, team player
and networking capabilities
● A teachable spirit and willingness to learn and collaborate with others
● Active in a local church
● A personal relationship with Jesus
● Extra beneficial if you have some experience with CRM and other online databases
● Extra beneficial if you have knowledge of CRA requirements for charities working
internationally
Working Conditions
● Working from Central Office (Surrey) 4 days/week
● Traveling to Rwanda 1-2 times per year
● Visiting different Areas and programs of GVYU
● Developing and maintaining relationships with GVYU Staff, YFC Rwanda staff, Program
partners, sponsors and trip participants
● Collaborating with other GVYU staff, volunteers and community partners
● Occasional evening work, weekend work, day trips, and extended trips
